Antalya

Antalya the "laughing beauty of the turkish south" is located at the bottom of the green mountain range of the taurus, just inbetween the centre of the turkish riviera. Due to the mild climate, lots of quiet bays where you can go swimming and various historical remains of different centuries Antalya has become one of the most attractive destinations for a holiday in Turkey. From the city´s steep coast you have a wonderful view over the blue sea and the snow-capped top of the taurus. During the hot season you can find some refreshment in the city´s parks and tea-gardens. Antalya´s water-front has been restored and the harbour was not only reconstructed but changed into one similar to Saint-Tropez.

If you want to experience more of the typical turkish way of life you may visit the colourful bazaar of this amazing city, the shady palm-lined boulevards, the roman Hadrian`s Gate and possibly the most beautiful museum of greece-roman antiquity in Turkey. During the day while the sun is shining you may sit down in one of the various cafes along the streets and watch the colourful scene of streetlife.

Just around the corner you find the popular sandy beaches of Antalya ( Konyaalti or Lara-beach) which are famous for their clear turquoise water.

But Antalya is not only the right place to relaxe. The city also offers a great variety of entertainment, including the second largest discotheque and the most famous bars and cafes of Turkey.

In case you are not interested in the cities attractions and you are not keen on aquatic sports or skiing ( which is possible throughout the year) you may as well go on a day-trip. Because Antalya is favourably situated as regards transport facilities day-trips to Aspendos, Perge, Side and in the antique hinterland are a welcome variation for most visitors.
